Woodspring Model Sailing Club
Woodspring Model Sailing Club was formed in 1974 to promote the building and sailing of radio controlled model boats. The Club has around 100 members and enjoys a friendly atmosphere with advice and assistance for the newcomer readily available.
Our sailing water is Portishead Marine Lake situated in attractive surroundings on the sea front. Sailing takes place on almost every Sunday morning from about 10.00 am together with informal mid - week sailing. The Club is affiliated to the Model Yachting Association and regularly hosts National and District Championships.
There is a very active section of the Club keen on model yacht racing mainly with the International One Metre class along with a small number of 'A' class boats. The club has an equally active section involved with scale modelling predominantly in the area of scale sail with many fine models seen on the water.
A monthly newsletter is circulated to all members and monthly Club nights are held. At the 2007 Bristol Society of Model & Experimental Engineers Exhibition, the Club was awarded the Trophy for The Best Display in show - see the Photo Gallery slide show.
